Regenerative Wine:
A gathering of community, questions, and wisdom
Dear Megan,

We invite you to a convening on the ground, around the table, and in the vines. Intersectional movement-building requires trust that transcends our traditional silos. We gather to build relationships across the sectors of the wine industry, from farming to worker-justice, education to economics.

The following email contains additional details for the convening and a link to RSVP.

Let’s gather!
An Invitation to Co-Create with Us
This is a call to share experiences and issues that are highly important and are not finding an effective forum elsewhere in the wine industry. Come to share and listen, come to be heard and feel cared for, come to ask questions with and without answers, come to slow down, unplug, laugh, and drink wine. Come to explore what is alive for you right now.
Over the past 5 years Paicines Ranch and the Paicines Ranch Learning Center have utilized the simple yet profound process of getting a great group of people together in a room and on the land for a couple days to explore and experience the synergy that occurs with connection. Past events include: State of the Soil, Organic Grain Gathering, Women in Ranching, Regenerative Ag Learning Journey and Women in Soil.

A Taste of the Agenda...

This co-created convening will be a place of knowledge-sharing and cross-pollination. With guided facilitation, we anticipate the conversations to unfold around the questions, stories, and talents each person brings to the space. Some elements of the agenda include:

  • Sharing current struggles, past successes and future dreams.
  • Discussions centered around the beautiful complexity of soil microbe/plant/animal synergy, labor and equity, feminist leadership, capital, legacy, and heritage.
  • Discussions on the economics of making a good living while healing ecosystems.
  • Visioning in the vineyard, meeting the sheep, analyzing dung and digging in the dirt.
  • Jokes, laughter and imbibing paired with delicious, locally-sourced meals.
  • Space for creativity, inspiration and incubation.
  • Moonlit calling to the owls.
Who Will Be There
We’ve invited a diverse mix of incredible wine professionals with vibrant backgrounds, including winemakers/growers from multiple states and winegrowing regions, farm and justice workers, journalists, educators, researchers, retailers, distributors and sheep. We will be sharing a list of attendees with confirmed participants as we get closer.

The Nitty Gritty Details
Travel & Airports
San Jose (SJC) is the closest airport to fly into and highly recommended. San Francisco (SFO) and Oakland (OAK) are the next best options. Unfortunately, there is no reliable public transportation to the ranch as it is in a rural location so most people flying end up renting a car or carpooling.

Carpooling
We will coordinate carpools based on the information you share in the RSVP form above. We will plan to have a carpool leave SJC airport by 3:30pm. We can also coordinate carpools out of SFO or OAK airports, as needed.

Arrival & Departure Times
The gathering will begin on Thursday, February 6 with a welcome reception at 5:30pm followed by dinner at 7:00pm. Check-in begins at 3:00pm. The convening will conclude on Saturday, February 8 with dinner at 7:00pm. You have the option of staying over Saturday night with a departure breakfast on Sunday, February 9. Please keep this in mind as you are arranging your travel plans.

Cost to Participate
We acknowledge the expense that participants will undoubtedly incur to be absent from their own operations and travel to Paicines Ranch. As such, the Paicines Ranch Learning Center will offer programming, meals and lodging at no cost to participants.

We also realize that there may be additional financial burdens or other roadblocks to participating, such as childcare and travel expenses. Please let us know in the RSVP form above if you'd like to request additional support to be able to attend.

Please note: this event is by invitation-only.
